Dr BRC clinic Varanasi is not the name of one hospital. The Dr BRC organisation's own clinic directory listed 13 Varanasi entries on 12 October 2026 and does not single out one of them, so this page treats no clinic as "the" Dr BRC clinic.[1] Lucknow Naturopathy, in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, delivers Dr. BRC protocol-based diet and lifestyle programmes in Varanasi, alongside your own doctor, never instead.

The brand's own Varanasi page[2] and other pages that use the Dr BRC name show different Varanasi addresses and phone numbers, which we do not reproduce here. This page does not claim an entry for us in the brand's directory. Confirm by phone before you travel, and see how to check any Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi.

How do I book a first call?

  1. Call or WhatsApp us, or use the contact page.
  2. Tell us your medicines and send recent reports.
  3. We explain what a first visit involves and confirm the address and timings. If you take insulin, a sulfonylurea or an SGLT2 inhibitor, or have kidney disease, are pregnant or have had an eating disorder, see your own doctor first.

In an emergency do not wait for a reply: the Varanasi district portal lists ambulance 102 and 108 and police 112 (page dated 8 July 2024).[3] More in where to get tests and emergency care in Varanasi.

How to check any Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi: directory, certificates and questions [वाराणसी में किसी भी डॉ. बीआरसी क्लिनिक की जाँच कैसे करें]

You can check whether a Dr BRC clinic is genuine instead of taking it on trust. At every Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi you find, ask three things: who will see me, which directory entry is yours, and can I see the practitioner's certificates and the clinic's registration. The same questions apply to us.

What the Dr. BRC directory lists for Varanasi

On 12 October 2026 we counted the brand's own clinic directory. It has 901 rows for India, and 13 show VARANASI as the city. A search for Banaras, Benares and Kashi found no further rows.[1]

Each row gives a name, a city and state, and a "Click to Visit" link that opens the same Google form for every row. Four of the 13 also carry a "Click to View" file. No row shows an address, phone number, hours or services.[1] The page says listed clinics are "trained and authorized under Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury's health programs".[1] So a listing shows that an entry exists, not the premises, the qualifications or current activity.

The brand's Clinic@Home page says students of its CIM course (Certification Course in Integrated Medicine), naturopaths, yoga therapists and others apply through a registration form and, "once verified", are added to the Dr. BRC network.[4],[5] It publishes no franchise fee, agreement or territory rules.[4] So the published network rules do not identify any one clinic as "the" Dr BRC clinic of Varanasi, and we make no such claim.

Documents and questions before you pay

  • The practitioner's full name and certificates, with issuing body and year. Ask to see the originals.
  • Which directory name is theirs, and any written authorisation from the Dr. BRC organisation.
  • Whether the premises is registered as a clinical establishment. Uttar Pradesh has adopted the Clinical Establishments Act, 2010, the law that governs registration of clinics and hospitals.[6] Ask to see the registration.
  • The fee in writing, what it includes and the refund rule.
  • Whether you must buy any product or supplement.
  • Confirmation that nobody will ask you to stop or reduce a medicine.
  • A written plan you can show your own doctor.

Pay only after you have seen the premises and the certificates. Check that the signboard, receipt and Maps listing match the name you were given on the phone. Ask us these questions too. Our Lucknow practitioners' qualifications are on our team page, and what naturopathy, Ayurveda and homeopathy qualifications mean explains how to read any title.

Why the same name appears at different addresses

The brand's site and each third-party page publish their own address and number, so you can meet more than one address under one name.[2]

For other cities, our pages on Dr BRC clinic Kanpur and Dr BRC clinic Gorakhpur set out their directory counts. The Lucknow page has a longer claims checklist.

Varanasi district data

What do NFHS-5 survey numbers say about health in Varanasi district?

In the National Family Health Survey, NFHS-5 (2019-21), Varanasi district's figures for two health measures, women's waist-to-hip ratio and men's blood pressure, were higher than both Uttar Pradesh and India.[7],[8],[9] Among women aged 15-49, 67.1% had a high-risk waist-to-hip ratio, against 56.8% in Uttar Pradesh. Among men aged 15 and over, 27.1% had raised blood pressure or took blood pressure medicine, against 21.7% in Uttar Pradesh and 24.0% in India (the men's figure rests on only 195 men).[7],[8],[9] Women's anaemia was lower than in both.[7],[8],[9]

Varanasi is above both for women's waist-to-hip ratio and men's raised blood pressure, though the men's figure comes from a small sample. Men's mildly raised blood pressure was 20.9% against 15.2% in Uttar Pradesh.[7],[8] Women's blood pressure (19.0%) and overweight (22.6%) sit close to the state's 18.4% and 21.3%.[7],[8]

Blood sugar readings are below India for both sexes, though men's 12.6% is above the state's 11.6%.[7],[8],[9] Women's anaemia was well below the state (50.4%) and India (57.0%).[7],[8],[9] Outside health measures, 71.5% of Varanasi households cooked with clean fuel against 49.5% in Uttar Pradesh.[7],[8]

How to read these numbers

Blood sugar in NFHS-5 was a random finger-prick reading, not a fasting test, and the sheet reports no HbA1c (laboratory) result.[7] "High" counts anyone above 140 mg/dl or taking medicine for blood sugar. That makes it a screening signal, not a diagnosis (our reading of the survey method). The sheet never uses the word diabetes.[7]

Blood pressure here comes from readings taken at a single survey visit, or from taking blood pressure medicine, so it is not a diagnosis either. Raised blood pressure usually causes no symptoms, so the only way to know is to have it measured. In the survey, "mildly raised" means a top number of 140-159 and/or a bottom number of 90-99.[7] Waist-to-hip ratio and BMI (a weight-for-height measure) are measurements, not diseases. If a figure sounds like you, ask your own doctor for a test and advice; see our medical disclaimer and more questions answered.

A separate national study, ICMR-INDIAB (fieldwork 2008-2020), found diabetes in 11.4% and prediabetes in 15.3% of Indian adults.[11] It put diabetes in Uttar Pradesh at 4.8%, the lowest of any state; the survey ran in phases between 2008 and 2020, so the state figure may not reflect today.[11],[12] Its authors note that the large population means even a small rise adds up to many people.[12] INDIAB and NFHS used different methods, so their figures cannot be compared directly, and a low state figure is no reason to skip a check.

Warning signs that need a doctor, not a diet change

  • Low blood sugar in someone who takes insulin or a sulfonylurea: sweating, shaking, hunger, a racing heart or confusion, with a reading below 70 mg/dL (3.9 mmol/L). Take fast-acting sugar if you are awake and can swallow, and get urgent help if it does not clear, keeps coming back, or the person is drowsy or cannot be woken. Below 54 mg/dL (3.0 mmol/L) is the American Diabetes Association's level 2 low.[17]
  • Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fast breathing or unusual drowsiness in someone with diabetes who is eating very little or fasting, especially on an SGLT2 inhibitor (a diabetes tablet). Go to an emergency department the same day, even if the sugar reading is not very high. The American Diabetes Association lists very-low-carbohydrate diets and prolonged fasting as risk factors for ketoacidosis (acid build-up) in type 2 diabetes treated with SGLT2 inhibitors.[17]
  • Missed insulin in type 1 diabetes, or vomiting, stomach pain, fast breathing or drowsiness in anyone who takes insulin. Diabetic ketoacidosis can be life-threatening and needs emergency care.[18]
  • Chest pain, fainting, new confusion, sudden weakness or trouble speaking.
  • A foot wound that is red, swollen or turning black.

The founder and the diet in brief

Who is Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, and what does the DIP diet ask you to do?

Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, known as Dr BRC, is the creator of the DIP diet, a plant-based eating plan with fixed rules, according to his official website.[19]

Dr. Chowdhury in four attributed facts

  • According to his own website, he is an engineer by education.[20]
  • The same site lists a "PhD (Hon.) in Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Diseases". "Hon." means honorary, so this is an honorary doctorate, not a medical degree. The page does not claim an MBBS or MD, and mentions an unspecified "post-graduation in Diabetes".[20]
  • The brand's own analysis page says critics point out that he does not hold an MBBS degree.[21]
  • The biswaroop.com footer names Dynamic Memory Pvt Ltd as the company behind the site, and the site's DIP page presents him as the diet's creator.[19],[20]

DIP diet kya hai: the published rules in brief

The DIP diet is a set of eating rules published by Dr. Chowdhury's brand, which expands DIP as "Disciplined & Intelligent Person's Diet".[19] The cards below give the rules as published at biswaroop.com and drbrc.in, read 12 October 2026. We report them as published; they are not a plan for you, and nothing on this page replaces your own doctor's advice.

Morning

Fruit only until noon, with a minimum set by body weight: kg x 10 g. For a 60 kg adult, that is 600 g.[19] The brand's own DIP page warns that excess fruit or carbohydrate may spike blood sugar in insulin-resistant people (people whose bodies respond less well to insulin, as in type 2 diabetes), so ask your own doctor before trying this amount of fruit if you have diabetes.[22]

Lunch and dinner

Two plates: raw vegetables first (kg x 5 g), then home-cooked vegetarian food (the brand's term; it also avoids milk products, see Avoid) with negligible salt and oil. For 60 kg, the raw plate is 300 g. The page says to try to finish dinner by 7 pm.[19]

Avoid

Animal food including milk products, packed and refined food, and multivitamin tonics and capsules.[19] With no milk, eggs or meat and no routine supplements, vitamin B12 can run low.[22] The brand's own DIP page lists B12 among the shortfalls it expects,[22] so ask your doctor about a B12 test.

The brand's own caveat

Its DIP page says results vary, with "no large-scale clinical trials but many anecdotal cases".[22]

ICMR-NIN's 2024 dietary guidelines list milk, eggs and meat as options for some groups, such as pregnant women and children.[23] The booklet does not describe a plant-only plan, so it is a personal choice to discuss with your doctor or dietitian.[23] Never stop or change a prescribed medicine or supplement because of any diet page, ours included. Your treating doctor decides that.

For the full biography and the complete rules, read the founder and DIP diet sections of our Lucknow page. To understand the field our practitioners work in, see what naturopathy means.

The evidence in brief

What does research say about diet and type 2 diabetes remission, and about the DIP diet?

Type 2 diabetes can go into remission, mostly after large, supervised weight loss, and we found no published trial showing that the DIP diet does this.[24] Remission is a test result, not a cure, and the expert group behind the definition advised avoiding the word "cure".[25] It means HbA1c (average blood sugar over about three months) below 6.5%, measured at least 3 months after stopping glucose-lowering medicines.[25]

Claim by claim: what the research record shows

Claims you may see, set against the research
Claim you may seeWhat the research record shows
"Diabetes goes in 72 hours"Remission needs HbA1c measured at least 3 months after medicines stop, so a 3-day claim cannot meet it.[25]
"Diet can put type 2 diabetes into remission"In DiRECT (UK, 2018), 46% of 149 supervised adults were in remission at 12 months (HbA1c below 6.5% after at least 2 months off diabetes medicines), against 4% of 149 comparison adults. They had an 825-853 kcal a day low-energy formula diet for 3-5 months, delivered by practice nurses or dietitians who had been trained for the trial, and their oral diabetes and blood pressure medicines were stopped on day 1. They were aged 20-65, had a BMI of 27-45, were diagnosed within 6 years and were not on insulin. It was a low-calorie formula diet followed by stepped food reintroduction, not the DIP diet. Remission tracked weight lost: across the whole trial, 31 of 36 people (86%) who lost 15 kg or more were in remission at 12 months.[24] Remission can end if blood sugar rises again, so check-ups continue.[25]
"Plant-based diets help"In people with diabetes, vegetarian dietary patterns lowered HbA1c by about 0.3 percentage points in trials of at least 3 weeks (9 trials, 664 people).[26] In a separate review of adults generally, not only people with diabetes, vegetarian diets were associated with blood pressure about 4.8/2.2 mmHg lower than omnivorous diets (7 controlled trials, 311 people).[27] Useful, but short of remission.
"The DIP diet is clinically proven"The brand's own DIP page says "no large-scale clinical trials but many anecdotal cases".[22] We found no published trial of the DIP diet in PubMed or Europe PMC (our searches, 12 October 2026).
"Yoga lowers blood sugar"A 2026 review of 28 trials in adults with type 2 diabetes found HbA1c 0.64 percentage points lower when yoga was added to usual care. The certainty of that evidence was rated low.[28]

What this means if you read a Varanasi clinic page

If a page promises a cure, names a number of days or says "clinically proven", ask which study it relies on and note the title, journal and year. The trials support weight loss, better food quality and activity alongside medical care, not instead of it. If you take insulin or other diabetes medicines, doses may need to change when your food changes, and only your treating doctor can decide that.

Depth: our remission evidence and study-by-study DIP diet audit. On this page: who should not follow the DIP diet without a doctor and how to check any Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi.

Safety

Who should not follow the DIP diet without their own doctor?

Anyone who takes insulin, a sulfonylurea or an SGLT2 inhibitor, and anyone with type 1 diabetes, kidney disease, pregnancy or an eating disorder history, should ask their own doctor before changing how they eat.

Medicines that can cause problems when you eat less

Insulin, sulfonylureas (tablets such as glimepiride, glipizide and gliclazide, which make the body release more insulin) and meglitinides can cause low blood sugar when you eat less, and fasting is a recognised risk factor.[17] Ask the doctor who prescribes them before you change how you eat or fast, including a religious fast.

SGLT2 inhibitors (dapagliflozin, empagliflozin) can cause ketoacidosis, a build-up of acids in the blood. The American Diabetes Association lists very-low-carbohydrate diets, prolonged fasting, dehydration and heavy alcohol as risk factors, and says doctors should consider holding these medicines when oral intake cannot be maintained.[17] A modest sugar reading does not rule it out, so a doctor should make that call.[17]

Who should not start without medical advice

  • Type 1 diabetes, or anyone who needs insulin to stay well.
  • Kidney disease or dialysis: ask for a plan from your kidney doctor or a renal dietitian.
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy.
  • Anyone under 18.
  • Any history of an eating disorder.
  • Older or frail adults, and people who are underweight.
  • Anyone on medicines for diabetes or blood pressure, until their doctor agrees.

The brand's own DIP page lists the DIP diet side effects it expects: shortfalls of vitamin B12, iron, zinc, omega-3, calcium, vitamin D and protein. It says older adults, pregnant people, people with anaemia and insulin-resistant people should avoid the diet long term.[22] That is the brand's caution, not a trial result.

Start with your own doctor. Our care map for tests and emergencies shows where a person can be examined in Varanasi. Read the full safety section on our Lucknow page, our medical disclaimer and is naturopathy safe: side effects and evidence.

Lifestyle support, not treatment

What do national guidelines and trials say about food, walking and yoga for waist size, blood pressure and blood sugar?

Two readings stand out in Varanasi's NFHS-5 survey (2019-21). Among women aged 15-49, 67.1% had a high-risk waist-to-hip ratio (0.85 or more), against 56.8% in Uttar Pradesh. Among men, 27.1% had a raised reading at the survey visit or took blood pressure medicine, against 21.7% in the state; only 195 men were interviewed, so that figure is imprecise.[7][8] These are survey measures, not diagnoses. National guidance (ICMR-NIN, 2024) covers food, activity and sleep.[23] Lifestyle support sits alongside medical care, not in place of it.

What food, walking and yoga can add

Waist and weight

ICMR-NIN advises slow, steady weight reduction, at least 30-45 minutes of brisk walking or moderate activity for adults, and regular yoga. It warns that extreme weight-loss approaches may harm health.[23]

Blood pressure

ICMR-NIN advises added salt of no more than 5 g a day and plenty of vegetables, at least 400 g.[23] In 7 controlled trials (311 people), vegetarian diets were associated with blood pressure about 4.8/2.2 mmHg lower than omnivorous diets.[27]

Blood sugar

In people with diabetes, 9 pooled trials of vegetarian patterns were associated with HbA1c (a three-month sugar average) about 0.29 percentage points lower.[26] In type 2 diabetes, yoga added to usual care was associated with about 0.64 points lower, with low-certainty evidence.[28]

What lifestyle support does not do

It does not replace medicines or tests, and it is not medical care for diabetes, obesity or high blood pressure. If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea (a tablet that makes the body release more insulin), eating less can push sugar too low, so tell your treating doctor before you change how you eat. Results vary, and nobody should start, stop or change a medicine because of a web page. Our Lucknow centre offers yoga classes and diet counselling for general wellbeing, not as treatment for any condition. For what is offered in Varanasi, call +91 88742 06748. The Lucknow page goes into more depth on lifestyle and medical care.

Eating in practice

What does a plant-forward day look like with foods Varanasi readers know?

What UP men report eating, beside Varanasi men's blood-pressure figures

No survey we found reports what Varanasi district eats, so these are Uttar Pradesh figures.

What men aged 15-49 in Uttar Pradesh report eating, NFHS-5 2019-21
FoodShare of men
Pulses or beans daily52.9%
Dark green leafy vegetables daily54.8%
Fruit daily9.3%
Milk or curd daily47.3%
Fried food daily or weekly45.0%
Aerated drinks daily or weekly20.7%
State-level self-report of frequency, 11,157 men; there is no Varanasi district breakdown. The fried-food and aerated-drink rows add the daily and weekly shares.[10]

Varanasi men's raised blood-pressure figure (27.1% in NFHS-5, 2019-21, from only 195 men) is in the Varanasi NFHS-5 section. The district fact sheet has no adult diet data and does not link this figure to food.[7]

A sample day built from ICMR-NIN advice, using familiar foods

ICMR-NIN, the government's National Institute of Nutrition, advises whole grains or millets with pulses (dals and beans), at least 400 g of vegetables a day, limited ghee and butter, added salt of at most 5 g and sugar below 5% of energy.[23]

  • Morning: a sattu drink, or roti with a vegetable sabzi.
  • Midday: dal and sabzi with roti, plus a salad or extra vegetables.
  • Afternoon: a piece of fruit, or a salad.
  • Evening: litti-chokha, with ghee and oil kept small.
  • Dinner: a lighter dal and sabzi with roti, or brinjal chokha.

ICMR-NIN also advises including milk, eggs and meat, particularly for pregnant and lactating women, children and adolescents;[23] the DIP diet as published avoids animal food, including milk products.[19] This sample has none, so it is incomplete for those groups.

No ICMR-NIN or NFHS source rates any Varanasi dish healthy or unhealthy, so we do not. What changes the picture is portion, oil, ghee and salt.[23] For a plan fitted to you, see a personalised diet plan at our Lucknow centre.

Eating and drinking well in a Varanasi summer

The Orange-alert drinks in the Varanasi Heat Action Plan (see air quality and heat in Varanasi) include lassi and buttermilk, which are milk products that the DIP diet avoids.[29][19] With diabetes, or on blood-pressure or kidney medicines, ask your doctor which drinks suit you and how much, because some contain sugar or salt. Getting to Varanasi, and walking or doing yoga in its air and heat

This section gives sourced facts on reaching the city and on what its air and heat mean for walking or yoga.

Reaching Varanasi: airport, stations and the road from Lucknow

You can reach Varanasi by air, rail or road. The district portal (page dated 28 May 2019, so treat figures as approximate) puts Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport 22 km from the city, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction 16 km away and Lucknow, where our head centre is, 286 km by road.[30]

The airport is run by the Airports Authority of India.[31] The same portal page names Varanasi Cantt railway station (enquiry number 135) and the UPSRTC and Golgadda bus stands.[30] Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction itself lies in neighbouring Chandauli district.

Census 2011 counted 3,676,841 people in the district, 2,079,790 (about 57%) of them rural.[32] Ask us for the clinic address and directions before you set out, and carry your earlier reports.

Air quality: what 42 CPCB spot days show for walking and yoga

On 36 of the 42 CPCB spot days we checked, Varanasi's Air Quality Index (AQI) was Good or Satisfactory. Six days were Moderate and none was Poor. That is a small sample, not a seasonal picture.[33]

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) lists Varanasi among 131 non-attainment cities, meaning cities not meeting national air standards (list created October 2022). Its entry, no. 119, is a list position, not a pollution rank.[34] CPCB's AQI bands are Good 0-50, Satisfactory 51-100 and Moderate 101-200 ("breathing discomfort to the people with lungs, asthma and heart diseases"). At Poor, 201-300, it lists "breathing discomfort to most people on prolonged exposure".[33]

Our tally covers 42 CPCB bulletins, for the 1st and 15th of each month from 15 January 2025 to 1 October 2026. We read the Varanasi row, a 24-hour average at 4 PM.[33]

Our tally: Varanasi CPCB AQI on 42 spot days, 15 Jan 2025 to 1 Oct 2026
PeriodSpot daysGoodSatisfactoryModerateHighest reading
Dec-Feb9243180 (15 Dec 2025)

Jun-Sep1679097 (June 2026)
Oct-Nov5212153 (15 Nov 2025)
None reached Poor.[33]

A 24-hour average can hide higher peaks, for example in the morning, and CPCB itself notes that city values average several stations and can vary across locations.[33] On Moderate days, people with lung, asthma or heart disease may prefer indoor yoga and should ask their treating doctor. ICMR-NIN advises adults a minimum of 30-45 minutes of brisk walking or other moderate-intensity activity.[23] If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea, exercise can also lower your blood sugar, so ask your doctor how to prepare and carry fast-acting sugar with you. Stop and get urgent care for chest pain, fainting or unusual breathlessness.

Summer heat: IMD colour codes and the Varanasi Heat Action Plan

The Varanasi Heat Action Plan uses India Meteorological Department (IMD) colour codes set by maximum temperature: Yellow 40-43 C, Orange 44-46 C and Red 47 C or more. It says summer typically lasts March to June, with the dry heat called "Loo" particularly oppressive.[29]

  • Yellow (40-43 C): the plan suggests avoiding heat exposure, wearing light, loose cotton clothes and covering your head.[29]
  • Orange (44-46 C): it adds drinking sufficient water, even if not thirsty, and ORS or homemade drinks such as lassi, rice water, lemon water or buttermilk.[29]
  • Red (47 C or more): it calls for extreme care for vulnerable people.[29]

The plan states Varanasi reached 47.2 C in 2024, citing a June 2024 news report. In line with its advice, we suggest skipping afternoon outdoor exercise on Yellow, Orange or Red days. Dehydration is a risk factor for ketoacidosis with SGLT2 inhibitors,[17] so if you take diabetes or blood pressure medicines, ask your treating doctor how much to drink in the heat, especially if you have kidney or heart disease. Get urgent care for confusion, fainting or a very fast pulse in the heat. For heat illness or breathing trouble, see where to get tests and emergency care in Varanasi.

On hot or poor-air days a short indoor practice is a fair fallback. The yoga evidence (see what the research says) is for yoga added to usual care, and does not show yoga can replace walking.[28] If you have diabetic eye disease, numb feet or uncontrolled blood pressure, ask your doctor which postures are safe for you. If you are visiting Lucknow, see yoga practice at our Lucknow centre.

Dr BRC clinic Varanasi fees: what is published and what to ask

This page states no fee for the Varanasi clinic, because fees are confirmed when you call +91 88742 06748 or message +91 88742 06748. Do not assume the Lucknow fees apply there. Our own published rates are on the pricing page, and the fees section for our Lucknow head centre shows them beside the brand's prices.

Clinic@Home patient registrationRs 6,500, one-time, non-refundable[35]Registration for its GRAD Patient App. The terms say therapies taken at a physical clinic may be charged separately.[35]
In-person clinic feesNo amount givenIts Varanasi page says the fee varies by package (Standard or Advanced) and tells readers to call for the current tariff.[2]
These are the organisation's own figures, not fees of the Varanasi clinic or of Lucknow Naturopathy, and they may change.

Questions to ask about any Varanasi fee

  • The fee in writing, and what it includes.
  • The practitioner's name and qualification certificates, before you pay.
  • A receipt in the name shown on the signboard.
  • The refund rule, before you pay.
  • Whether anything must be bought (products, supplements, app registration), and whether that money goes to the clinic or the Dr. BRC organisation.
  • How many follow-ups the fee covers.
  • Whether any health insurance or scheme applies. We state no cover here.

In NFHS-5 (district fact sheet, 2020-21), 12.8% of Varanasi households had any usual member covered by a health insurance or financing scheme, against 41.0% across India; the survey notes that Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY was not fully rolled out then, so its coverage may not be fully counted.[7],[9] So many households had no such cover recorded. Get every cost in writing. Read our insurance information before assuming any cover applies.

Judging claims

Dr BRC clinic Varanasi reviews: how to judge claims, ratings and results

Dr BRC clinic Varanasi reviews are hard to judge because more than one web page uses that name or a close variant, at different addresses. A review or rating on a page you cannot verify is not evidence about any clinic.

Three checks for any review, count or result

  1. Ask how many people, over what period, and who counted. A figure like "10k+ patients" or a 4.8 rating means little without the headcount, the period and who counted.
  2. Treat a lab value in a story as one person's number. A testimonial quoting an HbA1c reading (a three-month blood sugar average) is not a result you can expect. In August 2017 the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), the advertising self-regulator, found an advertisement that showed efficacy through before-and-after images misleading.[36]
  3. Pause at certain words. Cure, "reversal", medicine-free, zero side effects, "only" or "first" clinic, and promises counted in days need a document you can open. In the same release ASCI found a "72 hrs" diabetes advertisement by Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury misleading (details in the public record).[36]

This page carries no testimonials, star ratings, patient stories or before-and-after pictures, and we will publish none. The brand's own Varanasi page, read on 12 October 2026, shows named testimonials, a patient-count claim and a star rating. It is marketing text, and we neither repeat nor endorse those figures.[2]

If a review still matters to you, check who wrote it and when, whether it describes a real visit, and whether the same wording appears on other pages. Treat any review that mentions stopping a medicine as a warning sign and show it to your own doctor. Then ask the clinic for its practitioner's name and certificates before you pay.

Our Lucknow page has the fuller list of warning signs, and our medical disclaimer lists what we do not claim.

Public record

The public record on Dr. Chowdhury and the DIP diet: a short, neutral summary

This is the dated public record on Dr. Chowdhury in brief, as of 12 October 2026. None of it concerns a Varanasi clinic.

Before you decide

Next steps: what to do before you book in Varanasi

  • If you take insulin or any diabetes, blood pressure or kidney medicine, see your own doctor before you change your diet. Do not change any medicine yourself.
  • Before you pay any Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi, ours included, ask for the practitioner's name, qualification certificates and fee in writing. Our checklist lists what to look for.
  • Call or WhatsApp us to confirm the clinic address and timings before you travel. For tests and emergency care, use a hospital, not a diet clinic.

Talk to us before you decide

We will tell you whether a visit makes sense or whether you should see your own doctor first.

About Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi and who is who

Is there an official Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi?
We cannot confirm that for you, and the brand's directory does not identify any single clinic as "the" Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi. The directory on Dr. Chowdhury's website listed 13 Varanasi entries when we counted on 12 October 2026, showing a name and city for each.[1] The brand says practitioners apply through a form and are added to its network once verified,[4] and we found no published territory or branding rules on that page. The brand's own Varanasi page presents one centre but does not name the practitioners who run it.[2] Lucknow Naturopathy delivers Dr. BRC protocol-based diet and lifestyle programmes in Varanasi. We do not call ourselves official, the only one or the first. Our guide to checking any Dr BRC clinic shows how to compare them.
What is the address of Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi (Dr BRC clinic Varanasi ka address kya hai)?
The Varanasi clinic address is shared when you call or WhatsApp us. Ask for it before you travel so you reach the right place. Other websites print other addresses for pages that use the Dr BRC name. The brand's own directory lists names and cities but no street addresses.[1] Please confirm by phone and write down what you are told. Our Lucknow head centre is at 123, Wellness Lane, Virat Khand 2, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh 226010. That is not the Varanasi address. All our contact options are on the contact page.
What is the phone number of Dr BRC Clinic in Varanasi?
Call or WhatsApp us on +91 88742 06748. You can also message us on WhatsApp at +91 88742 06748 or write to dr@naturopathlucknow.in. This is the number of Lucknow Naturopathy, the organisation that delivers the Varanasi programmes. When you call, we confirm the Varanasi clinic address and timings with you. Numbers shown on other pages that use the Dr BRC name are not ours, and we cannot vouch for them. Before you pay anyone, check that the number you were given matches the one you rang. The contact page lists the same details.
What are the timings of Dr BRC Clinic in Varanasi, and is it open on Sunday?
Timings are confirmed by phone: Call or WhatsApp to confirm current timings. We do not publish a Sunday timing on this page because we have not confirmed one here. Please ask when you call or WhatsApp +91 88742 06748, and keep the reply as a message or note. Ask for the day, time and the name of the practitioner you will meet before you leave home. If you feel acutely unwell, do not wait for an appointment. Go to an emergency department.
Is Dr BRC Clinic in Varanasi genuine, and how can I verify one?
Genuineness can be checked rather than assumed. Four checks work for any clinic, and you can apply them to us too. First, ask for the practitioner's name and qualification certificates, with the issuing body and year. Second, ask which directory entry is theirs and for any written permission from the Dr. BRC organisation. Third, if the place calls itself a clinic or hospital, ask to see its registration. The Union health ministry states that Uttar Pradesh has adopted the Clinical Establishments Act, 2010.[6] Fourth, get the fee in writing. The directory entries give names and cities (with a state and a contact-form link), but no addresses or phone numbers.[1] See how to check any Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi.
Why do other websites show different addresses and phone numbers for Dr BRC Clinic@Home in Varanasi?
The Dr BRC name is used by a network of practitioners and by several separate web pages, each publishing its own details. According to the brand, practitioners apply through a form and, once verified, are added to its network.[4] Its directory shows names and cities but no addresses or phone numbers.[1] The brand's own Varanasi page carries one address and number,[2] and when we searched we saw other pages with different ones. We use one number on this page and confirm the Varanasi address by phone. We do not name or link the other pages.
Is there a Dr BRC hospital in Varanasi, or in Banaras or Kashi?
We found none listed. The brand's home page names hospitals branded "HIIMS" in six cities, and Varanasi is not one of them (read on 12 October 2026).[5] Banaras and Kashi are other names for Varanasi. We searched the brand's clinic directory for Banaras, Benares and Kashi and found no entries under those spellings, only under Varanasi.[1] If another website shows a hospital with a similar name in Varanasi, ask who owns and runs it, and ask to see its registration, before you book or pay.
Does Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury see patients in Varanasi?
This page does not say that he does. The brand's own Varanasi page says "Dr BRC visits specific centers occasionally" and that its listed centre is "run by his certified and trained experts".[2] That is the brand's wording about its own listing, not about us. Our practitioners are naturopathy and yoga practitioners, not MBBS or MD doctors, and we do not replace your treating doctor.

Getting there, emergencies and local conditions

How do I reach a Dr BRC clinic in Varanasi from the airport or the railway station?
The clinic address is shared when you call or WhatsApp us; enter it in a map app on your travel day. For planning, the district portal's How to Reach page (last updated 2019) says Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport at Babatpur is 22 km from Varanasi, and it lists 135 as the enquiry number for Varanasi Cantt railway station.[30] The airport is run by the Airports Authority of India.[31] The same page puts Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction 16 km from Varanasi.[30] These are the district portal's own figures, not our measurements, and the page is several years old. We give no distance from any of these points to the clinic. Read more in getting to Varanasi.
How far is the Varanasi clinic from Cantt station or BHU?
We do not publish a distance. The clinic address is shared when you call or WhatsApp us, and we will not quote a figure we cannot stand behind. Some other web pages about Dr BRC clinics in Varanasi print kilometres and minutes from Cantt station and BHU, but we could not verify those numbers, so we do not repeat them. Once you have the address, check the live route in a map app for the day and time you plan to travel. If the route is unclear, call +91 88742 06748 or WhatsApp +91 88742 06748 and ask for directions before you set out.
Which hospital in Varanasi should I go to in an emergency?
Call 112 or the ambulance numbers 102 or 108, and go to the nearest hospital. We are a naturopathy and yoga centre, not an emergency service, so do not travel to us with chest pain, trouble breathing, fainting or sudden confusion. The Varanasi district HelpLine page (last updated 8 July 2024) lists 112 for police and 102 and 108 for ambulances.[3] Banaras Hindu University's 2022 tender notice describes Sir Sunderlal Hospital as offering Emergency services alongside OPD, inpatient and ICU care.[14] The district portal also lists four other hospitals, including the District Govt. Women Hospital and the Shri Shiv Prasad Gupt Divisional District Hospital in Kabir Chaura.[16] We do not rank hospitals or recommend private ones. The care map has the full list.
Where can I get my blood sugar and blood pressure checked in Varanasi before I change my diet?
Start with your own doctor, who decides which tests you need and keeps your treatment plan in one place. One public option is Sir Sunderlal Hospital at BHU. Its OPD (outpatient) schedule dated 4 September 2025 lists General Medicine and Endocrinology OPDs, with Endocrinology running Monday to Saturday.[15] The sheet prints no clock times, so check the current schedule on bhu.ac.in before you travel. Take your recent readings and a list of your medicines with you, and do not change any medicine on your own. The care map gives more detail.
Is Varanasi's air quality safe for morning walks and yoga?
Mostly Good or Satisfactory on the days we checked, but look at the day you plan to go. Varanasi is on the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) list of 131 non-attainment cities (a list whose PDF dates from October 2022).[34] We read 41 CPCB daily bulletins, for the 1st and 15th of the months from 15 January 2025 to 1 October 2026 (a few dates could not be retrieved). Eleven days were Good, 25 Satisfactory and 5 Moderate, and none was Poor. Four of the five Moderate days in our 41-day CPCB sample fell between 15 October and 15 December 2025.[33] That is a sample, not a seasonal average, and each reading is a 24-hour average taken at 4 PM, so it does not show how high the air got at other times of day. CPCB says Moderate air can cause breathing discomfort in people with lung, asthma or heart disease.[33] See the air quality table.
Is it too hot to walk or do yoga in Varanasi in summer?
It can be, on heat-alert days. The Varanasi Heat Action Plan says summer typically lasts from March to June. It adopts the India Meteorological Department colour codes: Yellow for maximum temperatures of 40 to 43 C, Orange for 44 to 46 C and Red for 47 C or more. Its suggested actions include "Avoid heat exposure" (Yellow and Orange) and drinking sufficient water even if you are not thirsty (Orange).[29] The plan says Red alerts need extreme care for vulnerable people.[29] On alert days, move walking or yoga indoors. The plan sets no exercise rule or safe clock time, so we do not either. If you take medicines for diabetes or blood pressure, ask your doctor how heat and fluids apply to you. More is in getting to Varanasi.
What can I eat in Varanasi if I want a plant-forward diet?
The pattern the Indian government's nutrition institute describes: whole grains, pulses and millets, plenty of locally available vegetables (at least 400 g a day), limited ghee and butter, and no more than 5 g of salt a day.[23] That guide also lists milk, eggs and meat as options, so it is not a plant-only plan. In Uttar Pradesh in 2019-21, 52.9% of men aged 15-49 reported eating pulses daily and 9.3% fruit daily (self-reported frequency, not amounts eaten).[10] No source we found rates a named Varanasi dish as healthy or unhealthy, so we do not. Portion, oil and salt matter more. Ask your doctor first if you have diabetes or kidney disease. See the sample day.

What local health surveys show

Does the NFHS survey show that Varanasi has a diabetes problem?
No, the survey does not measure diabetes. NFHS-5 (2019-21) took one random finger-prick sugar reading per person, and its figure counts anyone above 140 mg/dl or taking medicine for blood sugar.[7] In Varanasi district that was 9.3% of women and 12.6% of men aged 15 and over, against 10.0% and 11.6% in Uttar Pradesh[8] and 13.5% and 15.6% in India.[9] So women sit below the state figure and men slightly above it. This is a screening signal, not a diabetes rate, and only 195 men were interviewed in the district, so the men's figure is imprecise.[7] A proper test and advice come from your own doctor. The full table is in Varanasi's NFHS-5 health numbers.
How common are a large waist and high blood pressure in Varanasi district?
Both stand out against Uttar Pradesh in NFHS-5 (2019-21). Waist-to-hip ratio is waist size divided by hip size; 0.85 or more is called high risk for women. In Varanasi district, 67.1% of women aged 15-49 were in that group, against 56.8% in Uttar Pradesh[8] and 56.7% in India.[9] Among men aged 15 and over, 27.1% had raised blood pressure (140/90 or more) or took blood pressure medicine, against 21.7% in Uttar Pradesh and 24.0% in India.[7][8][9] The men's figure comes from only 195 men.[7] These are survey readings and body measurements, not diagnoses. If a figure sounds like you, ask your doctor to check your blood pressure and waist. The table and its limits are in Varanasi's NFHS-5 health numbers.

Fees, booking and short stays

Dr BRC clinic Varanasi fees kitni hai (what are the fees)?
The Varanasi fee is confirmed by phone or WhatsApp on +91 88742 06748 and is not published on this page, so please do not assume that Lucknow rates apply. Ask for the fee in writing, with what it includes and the refund rule, before you pay. For context only, the Dr. BRC organisation publishes online-service prices and a patient-app registration fee, as read on 12 October 2026; the Varanasi page does not say whether they apply to the Varanasi centre, so confirm in writing.[13][35] See how this page treats fees or the Lucknow centre's own pricing.
Is the programme covered by insurance or a government health scheme in Varanasi?
We do not state that any insurer or government scheme covers this programme. Ask your insurer or scheme office before you pay, and keep itemised receipts. In NFHS-5, 12.8% of Varanasi households (district fact sheet, 2020-21) had any usual member covered by a health insurance or financing scheme,[7] against 41.0% of households across India (2019-21);[9] the survey notes that Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY was not fully rolled out at the time, so its coverage may not be fully counted. Ask whether a naturopathy or diet service is covered at all, and which documents a claim needs. The Lucknow centre's insurance page describes its own claim paperwork and is not a statement about Varanasi.
What should I bring to a first consultation in Varanasi?
Bring your current medicines (strips or prescriptions that show the doses), recent reports and test results, any hospital discharge papers, and the name of your doctor. Also bring questions. Naturopathy and yoga practitioners are not MBBS or MD doctors, so ask for the practitioner's name and qualification certificates, the fee in writing, and a written plan before you pay. Tell the practitioner if you take insulin, sulfonylureas or SGLT2 inhibitors (diabetes medicines), or if you have kidney disease, are pregnant, or have ever had an eating disorder. If you are not sure which group your tablet belongs to, show the strip to your doctor or pharmacist, because some are sold as combination tablets. Any change to a medicine is for your own doctor to decide, not the practitioner you consult. To book, contact us on +91 88742 06748.
I am in Varanasi for only a few days. Is a short stay enough to start?
No. A few days cannot judge or complete any diet programme, and nobody should promise results in days. The 2021 international consensus on type 2 diabetes remission proposes, as the usual criterion, an HbA1c (a blood test) below 6.5% measured at least 3 months after glucose-lowering medicines have stopped.[25] If you are visiting, call +91 88742 06748 first to ask whether a consultation is possible, request a written plan to carry home, and keep your own doctor's follow-up.

The DIP diet, evidence and safety

What is the DIP diet (dip diet kya hai)?
The DIP diet is a plant-based eating plan created by Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, whose site expands DIP as "Disciplined & Intelligent Person's Diet".[19] As published, you eat only fruit (3 to 4 types) until 12 noon, with a minimum weight of fruit worked out as your body weight in kg multiplied by 10 grams. Lunch and dinner come as two plates. The first holds raw vegetables, eaten first. The second holds plain home-cooked vegetarian food with negligible salt and oil. Dinner is ideally finished by 7 pm, and milk products and packed food are left out.[19] These are the brand's rules as we read them on 12 October 2026, not a plan for you. Our DIP diet section goes through them, and the Lucknow page has the full rules.
Is the DIP diet safe for diabetes, and what are the side effects?
It depends on your medicines and your health, so ask your treating doctor before you start. If you take insulin, a sulfonylurea or a meglitinide (diabetes tablets that make the body release more insulin), eating much less can bring on low blood sugar, which is a reading below 70 mg/dL (3.9 mmol/L).[17] If you take an SGLT2 inhibitor (a class of diabetes tablets, such as dapagliflozin), very low-carbohydrate eating or prolonged fasting raises the risk of ketoacidosis, a dangerous build-up of acids in the blood.[17] The brand's own DIP page lists possible shortfalls of vitamin B12, iron, zinc, omega-3, calcium, vitamin D and protein. It also says insulin-resistant people should avoid the diet long term, because excess fruit or carbohydrate may spike blood sugar without balance.[22] See who should check with a doctor first.
Can I stop insulin or diabetes tablets on the DIP diet?
No, not on your own. Only your treating doctor should change, reduce or stop a diabetes medicine, and we never advise anyone to do so. Eating less while on insulin or a sulfonylurea is exactly when blood sugar can fall too low.[17] People with type 1 diabetes must never stop insulin, because missing even a few doses can cause diabetic ketoacidosis, a life-threatening emergency.[18] If you want to try any new way of eating, show the written rules to your doctor first.
Is the DIP diet scientifically proven?
Not that we could find. The brand's own DIP page admits there are "no large-scale clinical trials but many anecdotal cases".[22] When we searched PubMed and Europe PMC on 12 October 2026, we found no trial of the DIP diet indexed there. Vegetarian diets in general do show modest effects in trials. A meta-analysis of nine trials in people with diabetes found HbA1c (the blood test of long-term sugar control) about 0.29 percentage points lower.[26] A separate meta-analysis of seven trials, in adults generally rather than only people with diabetes, found blood pressure about 4.8/2.2 mmHg lower than on omnivorous diets.[27] Those results describe vegetarian diets, not DIP. Read what the research says or the full evidence review.
Can the DIP diet "reverse diabetes"?
No trial we found shows that, so we do not say it. The 2021 international consensus on remission advises avoiding the word "cure" for type 2 diabetes.[25] It defines remission as an HbA1c below 6.5% at least 3 months after stopping glucose-lowering medicines.[25] The best-known remission trial, DiRECT in UK primary care, tested a supervised low-calorie formula diet, not the DIP diet. Its adults were aged 20 to 65, diagnosed within six years and not on insulin. By the trial's own definition (HbA1c below 6.5% after at least 2 months off all diabetes medicines), 46% were in remission at 12 months, against 4% of the comparison group.[24] Never stop a medicine without your doctor. For the definition in depth, see what remission means.
Is the DIP diet safe in kidney disease, pregnancy, childhood or older age?
Each of these needs your own doctor's plan before any diet change. With kidney disease, ask your kidney doctor or a renal dietitian. Fruit-heavy and raw-vegetable-heavy eating is rich in potassium, which can matter in advanced kidney disease and with some blood pressure medicines such as ACE inhibitors and ARBs (our inference, not a trial finding). The brand's own DIP page names elderly people, pregnant women, people with anaemia and insulin-resistant people (common in type 2 diabetes and prediabetes) among those who should avoid the diet long term.[22] ICMR-NIN's 2024 guidelines list milk, eggs and meat as options, especially for pregnant and lactating women, children and adolescents. That is general advice, not a ruling on any one diet.[23] Anyone under 18, or with a history of an eating disorder, should not start a restrictive plan alone. Ask for your own doctor's written advice first.

Reviews and trust

Is Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury a medical doctor?
Not according to his own published materials. His official site calls him an engineer by education and lists a "PhD (Hon.) in Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Diseases" (Hon. means honorary) plus an unspecified "post-graduation in Diabetes"; it does not claim a medical degree such as an MBBS.[20] The brand's own analysis page says critics point out that he does not hold an MBBS degree.[21] In the Delhi High Court in 2023, his counsel said he "only suggests lifestyle changes" as a nutritionist; the court said whether he is a medical practitioner was for trial.[39] Our practitioners are naturopathy and yoga practitioners, not MBBS or MD doctors; our Lucknow team's qualifications, as shown on their certificates, are on our team page.
Dr BRC clinic Varanasi reviews: why does this page show no testimonials?
Because testimonials and star ratings cannot be verified by a reader, and outcome claims of this kind have drawn action from the advertising regulator. This page shows no testimonials, ratings or patient stories, and we will not add any. In August 2017 the Advertising Standards Council of India found a "72 hrs" diabetes advertisement by Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury misleading by gross exaggeration and said that, because it implied a complete cure, it breached the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act.[36] The brand's own Varanasi page, which we read on 12 October 2026, carries testimonials and patient counts that we do not repeat or endorse.[2] For any clinic, check who wrote a review, when, how many there are, and whether it promises a cure or medicine-free results. The three checks are in the reviews section.
