What is the Zero Volt Pillow + Bedsheet Combo?

The combo is the Zero Volt Bedsheet and the Zero Volt Pillow Cover sold together as one earthing set, with the cords and accessories for both. The sheet gives your body a grounded surface to lie on, and the pillow cover does the same where your head and neck rest. It is a home wellness set for people who want to try sleeping grounded. It is not a medical treatment.

Both pieces carry the same brass-coloured conductive grid. Each one connects by cord to the earth point of a properly earthed socket. Neither piece has a battery or heating element, and neither draws power from the mains.

People usually choose the set for one plain reason: they would rather sort out the whole bed in a single order, read one set of instructions, and receive one parcel.

The idea

Why some people want both the body and the head grounded

Earthing rests on a simple idea: when your skin touches something connected to the ground, your body is linked to the earth, much as it is when you stand barefoot on soil. Supporters of the practice say indoor life keeps that contact rare. A grounded sheet and pillow cover try to give you that contact across the whole bed while you sleep.

Your arms, back and legs touch the sheet. During the night, though, many people turn on their side or tuck an arm under the pillow, so the sheet alone may touch less skin than you expect. The pillow cover adds a second point of contact at the face, neck and side of the head.

The copper rod and wire set is the one item the single products do not include. Ask us on WhatsApp what it is for and whether you need it in your home. Whatever the kit contains, a missing or doubtful earth in your wiring is a job for a licensed electrician.

Step by step

Setting up an earthing sheet and pillow cover on the same bed

Two pieces means two connections to manage. Plan where both cords will run before you plug anything in.

   Get the earth point tested

   Before the first night, have the socket you plan to use checked with a mains tester or by an electrician. If it has no working earth, get a proper earth point fitted first. Do not rely on the fact that a socket has three holes.

2. 2

   Dress the bed

   Spread the bedsheet over the mattress, grid side up, and sleep directly on it with nothing in between. Slip the pillow cover over your pillow so your cheek and neck rest on the grid.

   Connect each piece as the instructions show

   Attach each cord to its piece first, then to the earth point, using the connector wires the way the supplied instructions describe. If you are unsure how the two cords should join the earth point in your room, send us a photo on WhatsApp and wait for an answer before connecting.

   Keep both connected overnight

   Leave the sheet and the pillow cover connected the whole time you sleep. Tidy the cords along the headboard or wall so they do not cross the floor.

   Carry on with your usual bedding and cooling

   Fans, coolers, AC and winter blankets on top of you are all fine. The one thing to avoid is an electric blanket or heated mattress pad under the sheet.

Care

Looking after an earthing set: washing the sheet and the pillow cover

A pillow cover usually needs washing more often than a sheet, so you will be disconnecting it more often. Make it a habit: unplug at the socket first, then detach the cord from the piece you are washing, as the supplied instructions show.

• Never wash a cord or a plug. Keep them dry while the fabric is being cleaned.
• Wash each piece as its care label and the supplied instructions say. We have not been given wash temperatures or drying settings, so we do not offer our own.
• Reconnect only when the fabric is fully dry.
• Check both cords and plugs now and then. If either piece, a cord or a plug is damaged, stop using it and let us know.

Evidence

Is there research on full earthing bed sets?

Not on sets like this one specifically. The studies that exist are about grounding during sleep in general, and they are few and small.

• The study cited most often followed 12 people who slept grounded on a conductive mattress pad for eight weeks. It reported lower night-time cortisol in saliva samples and better sleep, pain and stress scores, but the symptoms were self-reported and there was no comparison group.^[1]
• A Sleep Foundation overview of grounding sheets describes the sleep research as limited and says stronger studies are needed.^[2]
• A frequently quoted 2012 review of earthing research was written by authors who disclosed that some of them were contractors for a company sponsoring that research and owned shares in it.^[3]

In short: grounding has only been tested in a handful of small, short pilot studies, most of them relying on how people said they felt. Large trials with a placebo group have not been done. We offer the set as a supportive lifestyle product that some people find relaxing, without any promise about sleep or health.
